Riverton has won four straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Lehi has won four straight on the road also dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. Riverton will host Lehi at 3:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Riverton 2.5, Lehi 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Riverton's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Copper Hills 11-0. Considering the Silverwolves have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Peyton Sanchez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Sanchez was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double.
In other pitching news, Kaelyn Flynn looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Riverton got a massive performance out of Grace Leary, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Brooke Tacke, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Riverton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in 12 consecutive games dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Lehi earned a 9-4 win over Layton on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Pioneers in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won four in a row.
Abbi Harroun spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high.
At the plate, Sophie Bliss was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Maughan, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Riverton's win bumped their record up to 10-0. As for Lehi, their victory bumped their record up to 10-1.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Riverton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .484. However, it's not like Lehi struggles in that department as they've averaged .457. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Riverton skirted past Lehi 5-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Riverton repeat their success, or does Lehi has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
