Basketball Recap: Jesse Mutombo and Kaden Richardson Secure Win for Chisholm Trail

A well-balanced attack led Chisholm Trail over Ranchview in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. The Chisholm Trail Rangers strolled past the Ranchview Wolves with points to spare, taking the game 64-45. Given the Rangers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 198th, while the Wolves are ranked 525th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Chisholm Trail to victory were Kaden Richardson and Jesse Mutombo. Richardson went 7 for 15 on his way to 18 points and five steals, while Mutombo posted 17 points in addition to five assists and five boards. The game was Richardson's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jabari Griffin, who had ten points.

Chisholm Trail smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ranchview only pulled down two offensive boards.

Ranchview's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kishone Zachariah, who put up 14 points, and Raphael Kalala, who posted eight points. Another player making a difference was Arius Brown, who earned six points.

Chisholm Trail has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Ranchview, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-7.

Chisholm Trail will venture away from home to face off against Aledo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Aledo comes in on nine and Chisholm Trail on four. As for Ranchview, they will host Van Alstyne at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ranchview is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.3 points per game this season.
