After a string of six wins, the Crosby Cougars's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Barbers Hill by a score of 46-43. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Crosby in their matchups with Barbers Hill: they've now lost five in a row.
Crosby lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lamaya Clark, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Emori LaSalle was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five assists.
Crosby's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-11. As for Barbers Hill, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season.
Crosby will head out on the road to take on Sterling at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sterling will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1008th, while Crosby is ranked 457th). As for Barbers Hill, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lee at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lee is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
