Purdue Polytechnic not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since May 10, 2025 (when they won 9-2). Everything went their way against the Memphis Central Warriors as they made off with a 12-5 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Techies.
Diego Briceno Vega made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Briceno Vega was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Nevan Jeffers and Jordan Winkler did most of the damage at the plate: Jeffers went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Winkler went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Jeffers has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Cornell Muse, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Purdue Polytechnic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .697. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Memphis Central only posted an OBP of .296.
