The Discovery Spartans suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were outmatched by Lakeland Christian on the road and fell 66-26. Discovery has not had much luck with Lakeland Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Eleni Katzaras was her usual excellent self, going 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points and 2 assists for Lakeland Christian. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Katzaras has scored all season. Collette Zavada was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Discovery bumped their record down to 3-10 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.2 points per game. As for Lakeland Christian, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-4.
Discovery and Sebring will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Lakeland Christian, they will play host again and welcome Mulberry, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mulberry is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
