AA District 1 recap November 5, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in AA District 1 this week, Elizabethton beat Sullivan South 28-27. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Elizabethton and the Rebels played the closest game in the league this week, with Elizabethton eventually emerging with a 28-27 victory. Ethan Thomas ran for 149 yards during the win.
Shawn Witten's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Caleb Bailey threw for 96 and 1 touchdown and Jon Perkins had 31 yards receiving. On the ground Thomas contributed 149 yards. Isaiah Clark helped Elizabethton's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 24 yards.
Thomas provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Fighting Cyclones defeated Sullivan South.
Perkins was the best receiver in the league this week as Elizabethton beat Sam Haynie's team. Perkins racked up 1 reception for 31 yards. Clark helped Elizabethton's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 24 yards.
Elizabethton's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Fighting Cyclones feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Bailey has thrown for 526 yards and 6 touchdowns this season, while Markus Olds has 15 catches for 251 yards.
Sullivan North made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,194 from 6,647. The advance stemmed from a 22-16 victory over Happy Valley last week.
