Makayla Ortiz made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 23 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, John Carroll Catholic got a massive performance out of Samantha Rychter, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Isabella Ramirez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

John Carroll Catholic's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Florida Christian, their record is now 18-8.
