It was a good run, but the South Florence Bruins unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 58-33 walloping at the hands of Hartsville. South Florence was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hartsville apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why South Florence lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jada Montgomery . Despite the final result, she scored 13 points. Montgomery scored a full 39.4% of South Florence's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Amari Gamble , who scored four points along with five rebounds.
It was another big night for Jazzy Frierson, who scored 19 points along with nine assists and seven rebounds for Hartsville. The contest was Frierson's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Brooke Mitchell was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight steals and seven rebounds.
South Florence's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Hartsville, their win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Florence will challenge Wilson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Wilson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 last Friday. Hartsville's road trip will continue as they head out to face Myrtle Beach at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. Myrtle Beach's defense has only allowed 26.5 points per game this season, so Hartsville's offense will have their work cut out for Hartsville.
