La Joya is 9-1 against Economedes since November of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The La Joya Coyotes will head out on the road to square off against the Economedes Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
La Joya suffered their biggest loss since November 9, 2023 on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 65-9 loss at the hands of Edinburg. While losing is never fun, La Joya can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1103rd, while Edinburg is ranked 61st).
Meanwhile, Economedes' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 47-20 defeat at the hands of Mission. Economedes has not had much luck with Mission recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Nirel Salinas was Economedes' leading scorer, having posted seven points. Salinas held things down on the boards with six rebounds.
La Joya has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 15 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-24 record this season. As for Economedes, they bumped their record down to 7-14 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
La Joya didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Economedes in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 39-33 win. Will La Joya repeat their success, or does Economedes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
