Ansonia is 8-2 against Mississinawa Valley since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Ansonia Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks at 6:00 p.m. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Ansonia and 12 for Mississinawa Valley.
Last Saturday, Ansonia lost to Madison on the road by a decisive 62-46 margin.
Meanwhile, Mississinawa Valley pushed their score all the way to 57 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were the victim of a tough 77-57 defeat at the hands of Fairlawn. Mississinawa Valley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 55-31.
Despite the defeat, Mississinawa Valley had strong showings from Cing Scott, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds, and Bryson Gower, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gower has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kyle Wehrkamp, who scored nine points.
Ansonia's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-9. As for Mississinawa Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.
Everything went Ansonia's way against Mississinawa Valley in their previous meeting on January 2nd as Ansonia made off with a 62-40 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ansonia since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
