Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Sullivan West Bulldogs walked away with it. They skirted past Fallsburg 22-20. The win was just what Sullivan West needed coming off of a 36-6 loss in their prior match.
Among those leading the charge was Rally Cruz, who rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Sullivan West's defense and their three sacks. Leading the way was Cruz and his two sacks.
Fallsburg's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Donovan Hart, who picked up 120 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Nick Storms, who threw for 176 yards and two touchdowns.
Sullivan West has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which somehow isn't as good as their 7-1 record this season. As for Fallsburg, their loss was their third straight on the road , which bumped their record down to 5-3.
Sullivan West will take on Pawling at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pawling knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matchups -- so hopefully Sullivan West likes a good challenge. Fallsburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
