Franklin Regional let Toryn Fulton and Ciara Camacho run wild. Fulton went 2-for-3 with one home run, six stolen bases, and three runs, while Camacho went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Camacho has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of CC Copeland, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
They weren't the only one making solid contact: Franklin Regional kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Gateway made easy work of Penn Hills on Friday and carried off a 16-1 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Gators' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Alayna Dawson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Dawson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Rylee Beavin was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Samantha Robl was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Franklin Regional now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Gateway, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Franklin Regional has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. However, it's not like Gateway struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Franklin Regional took their win against Gateway when the teams last played back in April of 2017 by a conclusive 12-2 score. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Gators turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
