Valley Oak recap September 10, 2013
Sierra's Jonathan Montoya recorded the longest rushing play in Valley Oak this season in his game against Davis last week. Montoya's team bested the Spartans as he sprinted for 67 yards on the play and finished with 133 in all.
East Union moved up to 803 from 895 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Lancers were able to make move up by beating Orestimba 63-14.
Sierra's dynamic duo of Jake Pruitt and Lucas Widmer proved to be unstoppable against Davis, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Pruitt threw for 119 yards and Widmer had 84 yards receiving. Bryson Sanders helped Sierra's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 60 yards.
Jeff Harbison's team's dynamic duo of Pruitt and Widmer proved tough for Chris Cloward's team to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Pruitt put up the best numbers in passing as the Timberwolves bested the Spartans.
K.c Brandsted was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 179 yards on 23 carries as Sonora topped Davis. Andrew Nessi also contributed to the rushing game with 81 yards on the ground.
Widmer was the best wideout in Valley Oak this week as the Timberwolves beat the Spartans.
Brandsted provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Wildcats lost to Turlock. Brandsted's favorite target this week was Zach Atwood, who caught 2 passes for 70 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Sierra's Pruitt and Widmer have proven to be a lethal combination. Pruitt has thrown for 308 yards this season, while Widmer has 11 catches for 152 yards. Victor Lopez from East Union leads the league in rushing with 285 yards.
Willie Herrera's team took down the Warriors 63-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Lopez ran for 169 yards during the win.
