Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Liberty's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Liberty won the last time they faced Amherst County and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Liberty Minutemen blew past the Amherst County Lancers 65-42. The Minutemen have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Liberty to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cierra St. John, who went 6-for-9 on her way to 18 points. What's more, St. John also posted a 67% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2023. Moriah Tate was another key player, putting up 17 points and six assists.

Liberty smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Amherst County's loss came despite strong showings from Addie Kurko and Hannah Hooper. Kurko went 5-for-10 en route to 10 points and five boards, while Hooper posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Emma Beam, who scored four points and five rebounds.

Liberty has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.1 points over those games. Amherst County is on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-15.
