The Bloomfield Christian School Defenders had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They strolled past Varsity Opponent with points to spare, taking the game 70-52. Bloomfield Christian School's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
It was another big night for Joshua Backos, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Backos is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Luke Ruma, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Bloomfield Christian School's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1. As for Varsity Opponent, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost 13 of their last 17 games, which is still a better percentage than their 247-910-2 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bloomfield Christian School will challenge Washtenaw Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Washtenaw Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 348th, while Bloomfield Christian School is ranked 69th). Varsity Opponent on the road again on Friday and play against Cloudcroft at 3:00 p.m. on January 12th. Cloudcroft is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
