For the second straight game, Cortez will face off against Dysart. The Colts will be playing at home against the Demons at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Cortez has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Dysart will arrive with three straight wins.
Dysart hit Cortez with a eight-run fifth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Colts came up short against the Demons, falling 14-4.
For Dysart's part, Nathan Sinclair Delgado made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Sinclair Delgado also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Dysart is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-9 otherwise. Sinclair Delgado was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, John Amparan was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Dysart: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Aaron Olivas, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Dysart always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in six consecutive matchups.
Dysart now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Cortez, their loss dropped their record down to 4-15.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cortez has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Dysart struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
