The Wildwood Wildcats will challenge the Orlando Christian Prep Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Wildwood headed into their last game having not scored more than two runs for four straight, but Ocala Christian let them put that streak behind them. Wildwood blew past Ocala Christian 16-6 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won nine in a row.
Emory Strickland made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit over four innings pitched. Strickland was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
In other batting news, KJ Cope was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Grayson Kelly, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, while Orlando Christian Prep put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Holy Cross Lutheran Academy. Everything went Orlando Christian Prep's way against Holy Cross Lutheran Academy as Orlando Christian Prep made off with a 21-0 victory.
Like Wildwood, Orlando Christian Prep also got a great game from a two-way player: Carter Reis. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance also gave Reis a new career-low in walks (one). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and four RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI.
In other batting news, Orlando Christian Prep let Brayden Schuster and Blaise Schuster run wild. Brayden got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and two runs, while Blaise scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Blaise a new career-high in RBI (three). Seth Vasquez was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Orlando Christian Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holy Cross Lutheran Academy only posted an OBP of .077.
Orlando Christian Prep now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Wildwood, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Wildwood suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Orlando Christian Prep in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Wildwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
