Jacksonville extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 9-9. They lost 11-2 to the South Central Falcons. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 25, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Jacksonville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vasco Sutton, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
As for South Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.
On South Central's side, Isaiah James made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, James posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-4.
In other pitching news, Chase White looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Tyce Thompson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Corey Coleman, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Jacksonville will venture away from home to take on D.H. Conley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals will need to watch out since the Vikings have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games. As for South Central, they are taking a road trip to face off against First Flight at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
