Flanagan-Cornell has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Tri-Valley Vikings at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Flanagan-Cornell didn't have too much trouble with Deer Creek-Mackinaw at home as they won 57-42. Given Flanagan-Cornell's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 206th, while Deer Creek-Mackinaw is ranked 556th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Flanagan-Cornell can attribute much of their success to Connor Reed, who scored 19 points, and Kesler Collins, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Reed scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Jones, who scored seven points along with five steals.
Tri-Valley posted their biggest victory since December 15, 2023 on Tuesday. They blew past Ridgeview 54-30.
Flanagan-Cornell has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Tri-Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.
Flanagan-Cornell came up short against Tri-Valley when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 71-58. Can Flanagan-Cornell avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
