On Saturday, The Woonsocket Villa Novans faced the Barrington Eagles in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Woonsocket was the victim of a tough 42-21 defeat at the hands of Barrington. Woonsocket just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Woonsocket lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jamaury Barr. Despite the final result, he picked up 218 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Barr's longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards. Another player making a difference was Daunte Melton, who threw for 286 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt.
Woonsocket's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Barrington, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-1.
Woonsocket will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Cranston West at 6:30 p.m. on November 9th. As for Barrington, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Mt. Pleasant at 6:15 p.m.
