Astoria/VIT is 1-9 against Lewistown since November of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Astoria/VIT Rebels will head out on the road to face off against the Lewistown Indians at 7:30 p.m. Astoria/VIT is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Astoria/VIT scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 74-43 victory over Cuba/Spoon River Valley at home.
Ben Sherrod continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 30 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nic Huston, who scored 21 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Lewistown's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by Peoria Christian on the road and fell 60-25. While losing is never fun, Lewistown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 698th, while Peoria Christian is ranked 251st).
Astoria/VIT's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-14. As for Lewistown, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 16 of their last 17 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-20 record this season.
Astoria/VIT beat Lewistown 47-40 in their previous meeting back in November of 2023. Will Astoria/VIT repeat their success, or does Lewistown have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
