Apopka has gone a perfect 3-0 against Bishop Moore recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Blue Darters will head out to face off against the Hornets at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Apopka came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to Academy of Central Florida National.
While Apopka had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-18, 25-20.
Meanwhile, Bishop Moore unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lake Brantley. While the Hornets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Patriots 25-20 in the first set.
Bishop Moore started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-19, 25-9, 25-22.
Apopka will have to keep a close watch on Marc Francis Callejas and Cole Ferris, a pair of players who had a big impact on Bishop Moore's prior game. Callejas had 15 digs and one assist, while Ferris had six digs. Callejas has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more digs the last four times he's played. Will McCoy also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.
Apopka dropped their record down to 4-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Bishop Moore, they suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 13-4.
Apopka was able to grind out a solid win over Bishop Moore when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 3-1. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Hornets' Jackson Snyder, who had 24 digs and two assists.
