The Richwood Lumberjacks lost against the Montcalm Generals back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Richwood fell to Montcalm 49-44. Richwood has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Richwood's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grant Russell, who scored 21 points. Another player making a difference was Trae Trivolette, who scored 12 points.
Richwood's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Montcalm, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Richwood will take on Gilmer County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Gilmer County comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Montcalm, they will be playing at home against River View at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in West Virginia (River View is ranked 66th, while Montcalm is ranked 86th).
