Given Washington's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 538th, while the Bears are ranked 1092nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Washington's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Korey Abantao, who scored 19 points along with three steals. Abantao is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Quadir Jules, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and four blocks.
Washington is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. As for Mission, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Washington will take on the Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Academy - San Francisco is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Mission, they will head out on the road to square off against the Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
