Biloxi has won four straight games at home, while Lafayette has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Biloxi Indians will welcome the Lafayette Commodores at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
While Biloxi didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Meridian 13-3 on Friday.
Aubrey Atchison was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Hill, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Lafayette put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. They never let Lake Cormorant get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Commodores haven't had any issues with Lake Cormorant recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Sydney Cregar and Jenny Dreher were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Cregar tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Dreher tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Cregar gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Cregar went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI, while Dreher scored a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braleigh Crowe, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-4. Zoie Woolfolk was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Lafayette hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in four consecutive matches.
Biloxi is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. Lafayette's victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Biloxi has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .478. However, it's not like Lafayette struggles in that department as they've averaged .542. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
