Pinson Valley was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in 5A Region 6. The Indians vanquished Curry 62-35 earlier in the week.
Jordan extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Hayden, 42-32. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Blue Devils.
Jordan's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Devlin Hodges threw for 251 and one touchdown and Logan Motte had 129 yards receiving. On the ground Dee Merriweather chipped in 126 yards. Landon Smith helped Jordan's passing attack out by catching three balls for 61 yards.
Jordan's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Blue Devils feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Hodges has thrown for 1198 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Motte has 41 catches for 618 yards. Merriweather leads the league in rushing with 582 yards.
The top two teams in 5A Region 6 will face off this week when first place Walker takes on second place Jordan. Walker topped Center Point last week, while Lynn Elkins' team bested the Wildcats.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Blue Devils take on the Vikings. Jordan's offense has racked up 233 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Walker has allowed only 111 on the year.
There should be lots of points scored when John Holladay's team and the Blue Devils face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Vikings comes in having scored 173 this season, while Jordan has scored 233. Walker scored 22 points last week as it defeated the Eagles.
The Blue Devils made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,640 from 5,102. The improvement was the result of 42-32 victory over Hayden last week.
