The Commerce Tigers's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Westlake Lions at 8:30 p.m. on December 21st. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Commerce earned a 47-35 victory over Lumpkin County.
Commerce's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Malay L miitchell led the charge by scoring 20 points along with six rebounds. The match was L miitchell's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jayla Collins, who scored nine points along with 14 rebounds and three steals.
Westlake has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 23 points or more this season. They breezed by Banneker at home to the tune of 66-33. Given Westlake's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while Banneker is ranked 400th), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Commerce's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Westlake, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
