Despite the loss, Weddington still got an impressive performance from KJ Younger, who almost dropped a double-double on 28 points and nine rebounds. Younger's evening made it 19 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Zepp, who posted six points and six boards.
It was another big night for Bryce Slay, who went 8 of 16 on his way to 22 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals for Carmel Christian. Weddington's loss dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Carmel Christian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Weddington will venture away from home to take on Cuthbertson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cuthbertson knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Weddington likes a good challenge. As for Carmel Christian, they are taking a road trip to face off against Porter Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Carmel Christian is facing Porter Ridge at the right time seeing as Porter Ridge is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
