Randle hasn't had much luck against Lamar Consolidated recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Lions will venture away from home to square off against the Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Randle was able to grind out a solid win over Terry, taking the game 12-7.
The team relied heavily on Aleena ?CoCo? Moppin, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. Those triples marked the first that she hit this season. Peyton Perry was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Randle lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Lamar Consolidated waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cougars an 18-0 shutout. Considering the Mustangs have won 14 games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Aubree Jones was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and two stolen bases while going 3-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Lundstrom, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4.
Randle's record now sits at 4-11. As for Lamar Consolidated, their record is now 15-3.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Randle has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .498. However, it's not like Lamar Consolidated struggles in that department as they've averaged .539. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Randle suffered a grim 14-1 defeat to Lamar Consolidated when the teams last played back in March. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
