The Alcester-Hudson Cubs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 49-39 to Lakota Tech. Alcester-Hudson found out winning isn't easy when you make five fewer threes than your opponent.
Despite the loss, Alcester-Hudson still got an impressive performance from Elly Doering, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. That was a full 69.2% of Alcester-Hudson's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Alcester-Hudson struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Lakota Tech was led to victory by Kate Robinson and Shania Ferguson. Robinson scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, while Ferguson scored 17 points along with five steals. That's the first time this season that Robinson grabbed two or more steals.
Alcester-Hudson's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Lakota Tech, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.
Alcester-Hudson will head out on the road to square off against Irene/Wakonda at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Dakota (Irene/Wakonda is ranked 127th, while Alcester-Hudson is ranked 124th). As for Lakota Tech, they will square off against Dakota Valley at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
