The biggest upset of the week belonged to Washington, who defeated 126th ranked Atchison, 24-20. Jaevon Williams ran for 198 yards in the win.
The Wildcats scaled the state rankings by moving to 147 from 179 this week, the biggest jump in Kansas City-Atchison. Washington was able to move up by besting the Redmen 24-20.
Atchison's dynamic duo of Tanner Huntington and Austin Housh proved tough for Bryan Salsgiver's team to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Huntington threw for 230 yards and 3 touchdowns and Housh had 101 yards receiving. Wade Gassmann helped Atchison's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 93 yards.
The Redmen's dynamic duo of Huntington and Housh proved to be unstoppable against the Wildcats, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Williams was the most successful running back in the league this week. Teammate Marvin Bowens added to the ground attack by rushing for 77 yards.
Huntington put up the best numbers in passing as Atchison lost to Washington.
He went 16-30 with 0 interception.
Housh was the best receiver in the league this week as the Redmen lost to the Wildcats.
Atchison's Huntington and Gassmann have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Kansas City-Atchison in both passing and receiving yards. Huntington has thrown for 558 yards this season, while Gassmann, a 5-foot-7 receiver, has 7 catches for 209 yards. Sumner Academy's Brian Cobbins leads the league in rushing yards with 447.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when the Redmen's Gassmann goes up against Wyandotte's Elgin Hood.
Next week's game between Atchison and the Bulldogs will feature a good passing match up as Huntington will test his arm against Hood's defensive ability.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Wyandotte takes on the Redmen. At the moment, Eddie Brown's team is in first, while Atchison is in fifth.
The Bulldogs took down the Sabres 50-21 last week, the largest margin of any game.
