COPPELL, Texas -
Coppell (Texas) had a comfortable lead entering the fourth quarter, but used seven fourth quarter points to seal the 28-3 victory over
Ryan (Denton, Texas).
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Gavin McDaniel in the first quarter, the Cowboys were up 13-4 at the half.
Coppell expanded its lead to 16 points entering the fourth quarter. CHS scored once in the quarter on a touchdown pass by
Skyler Bonneau to
Connor Williams.
Led by
Solomon Thomas, the Cowboys had given up an average of 17.0 points prior to the contest.
The defeat comes as a step back for Ryan, who notched a 30-0 victory over Lewisville in its previous outing. The win brought Coppell's winning streak to four games.
In a 5A Region I District 5 game next week Coppell (7-1) takes on Lewisville, and Ryan (6-2) will go up against Flower Mound also in a 5A Region I District 5 game.
