The Ezekiel Academy Knights waltzed into Friday's matchup with five straight wins but they left with six. They beat Evangel Christian by the very same score they won with last week: 51-41. That's another feather in the cap for Ezekiel Academy, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ezekiel Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Addi Newell, who scored 19 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Newell has scored at least 25% of Ezekiel Academy's points. Abbie Dunlap was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Evangel Christian had strong showings from Hannah Benson, who scored 11 points, and Rachel Cassimiro , who scored 9 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Bullock, who scored 6 points.
Ezekiel Academy's win bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Evangel Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ezekiel Academy will take on Southern Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Evangel Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Banks Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th.
