The Westwood Christian Warriors and the Sunset Knights will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 21st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Westwood Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine games -- so hopefully Sunset likes a good challenge.
Even though Coral Reef scored an imposing 63 points on Tuesday, Westwood Christian still came out on top. Westwood Christian slipped by Coral Reef 64-63. Given Westwood Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while Coral Reef is ranked 505th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Westwood Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ethan Taylor out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. The game was Taylor's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Rosario, who scored ten points along with six assists and three steals.
Sunset has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 24 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Killian on Tuesday as Sunset made off with a 65-41 win. The victory was just what Sunset needed coming off of a 87-40 defeat in their prior contest.
Westwood Christian's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. As for Sunset, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Everything came up roses for Westwood Christian against Sunset in their previous meeting back in February as the squad secured a 70-37 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westwood Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
