The Rider Raiders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 68-51 bruising from Granbury. While losing is never fun, Rider can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 688th, while Granbury is ranked 221st).
When it comes to explaining why Rider lost, one person who can't be blamed is Caiden Reed. Despite the final result, he scored 31 points along with eight rebounds. The matchup was Reed's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jared Cohee, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Rider has not been sharp recently, as they've lost 13 of their last 15 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Granbury, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Northwest the next time they take the court. Granbury will host Northwest at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, while Rider will head out to face them at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
