After a string of three wins, the Humboldt Cubs's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost to Crest on the road by a decisive 44-27 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Humboldt has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Humboldt lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sam Hull. Despite the final result, he scored ten points.
Leading Crest to victory were Rogan Weir and Ryan Golden. Weir scored 13 points along with five assists and two steals, while Golden dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Golden has scored at least a third of Crest's points. Jacob Zimmerman was another key contributor, scoring five points along with nine rebounds.
Humboldt's loss dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Crest, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Humboldt's road trip will continue as they head out to face Yates Center at 5:00 p.m. on January 18th. Yates Center comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Crest, they will head out on the road to take on Northeast at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
