East Central is 2-8 against Clemens since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The East Central Hornets will head out on the road to challenge the Clemens Buffaloes at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully East Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for East Central, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 49-32 loss to Steele.
A'maya Holton put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored eight points along with 13 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played.
Meanwhile, Clemens' four-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They skirted past New Braunfels 49-46. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Clemens has posted yet this season.
Clemens found their leader in underclassman Anaya Williams, who scored 23 points along with four steals and four blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Alves, who scored 12 points.
East Central's defeat dropped their record down to 21-10. As for Clemens, their victory bumped their record up to 18-12.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's matchup: East Central have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.8 threes per game. It's a different story for Clemens, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 threes per game. Given East Central's sizeable advantage in that area, Clemens will need to find a way to close that gap.
East Central strolled past Clemens in their previous meeting on January 5th by a score of 66-51. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
