Waynesville has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Oakwood Lumberjacks at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Waynesville was able to grind out a solid win over Brookville, taking the game 56-48.
Meanwhile, even though Eaton scored an imposing 58 points on Tuesday, Oakwood still came out on top. Oakwood took their match against Eaton 69-58. Given Oakwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Eaton is ranked 498th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Waynesville has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for Oakwood, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3.
Waynesville lost to Oakwood on the road by a decisive 76-58 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Waynesville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
