Baseball Recap: Mount Juliet Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Mount Juliet Christian Academy lost against Donelson Christian Academy last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Saints fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 3-2. The Saints have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Joey Edgerton was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Mount Juliet Christian Academy is 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-7 otherwise. Edgerton was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Edgerton wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jonah Kleinmann, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Another was Kayden Smith, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Mount Juliet Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Donelson Christian Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-8.

Coming up, Mount Juliet Christian Academy will face off against Overton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Saints' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bobcats have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Donelson Christian Academy, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Donelson Christian Academy Wildcats take on Goodpasture Christian Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. They are facing Goodpasture Christian at the right time seeing as Goodpasture Christian is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
