The Baxter Springs Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 48-37 to St. Mary's-Colgan. While losing is never fun, Baxter Springs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while the Panthers are ranked 100th).
St. Mary's-Colgan's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tucker Harrell, who scored 15 points. Jack Schremmer was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Baxter Springs' loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for St. Mary's-Colgan, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-2.
Baxter Springs will play host again and welcome the Bulldogs, where tip off is scheduled for TBD on Friday. Galena is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for St. Mary's-Colgan, they will challenge the Titans on Friday. Columbus and the Panthers are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
