The Cheylin Cougars had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They secured a 50-46 W over Northern Valley on Friday. For Cheylin, this counts as revenge for the 59-12 defeat Northern Valley walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February.
Despite the loss, Northern Valley still got an impressive performance from Austyn Cox, who scored 18 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Delaney Sides was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 8 rebounds.
Cheylin's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Northern Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Cheylin will square off against Wallace County at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northern Valley, they will take on Oakley at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Oakley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
