Even though the Princeton Tigers scored an imposing 62 points on Friday, the James Monroe Mavericks still came out on top. James Monroe managed a 67-62 win over Princeton. For James Monroe, this counts as revenge for the 76-44 defeat Princeton walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2018.
James Monroe's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ryan Mann, who scored 23 points along with five assists. That's the first time this season that Mann scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Cole, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
James Monroe now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Princeton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3.
James Monroe is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Liberty at 4:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Princeton won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Nicholas County at 8:00 p.m. on December 30th. Nicholas County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Princeton likes a good challenge.
