Hughes Springs is on a three-game streak of home losses, Elysian Fields a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Hughes Springs Mustangs will take on the Elysian Fields Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hughes Springs comes in on a streak of failing to score more than eight points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Last Thursday, Hughes Springs had to suffer through a rough 55-8 loss at the hands of New Diana.
Meanwhile, Elysian Fields fell victim to Daingerfield's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Tigers 40-0. While losing is never fun, Elysian Fields can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 927th, while Daingerfield is ranked 250th).
The losses dropped Hughes Springs to 0-7 and Elysian Fields to 1-7.
Hughes Springs skirted past Elysian Fields 34-31 when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Will Hughes Springs repeat their success, or does Elysian Fields have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
