Shorecrest hasn't had much luck against Meadowdale recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Scots will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mavericks at 6:30 p.m. Shorecrest has given up an average of 10.6 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Shorecrest is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They lost 11-1 to Edmonds-Woodway.
Riu Hanrahan was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.
Meanwhile, Meadowdale got themselves on the board against Lynnwood on Wednesday, but Lynnwood never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Royals. The result was nothing new for the Mavericks, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Payton Aldridge was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Madison Mitchell was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Martens, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Meadowdale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The victory made it two in a row for Meadowdale and bumps their season record up to 7-9. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Shorecrest, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
Shorecrest's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Scots have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Meadowdale, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Shorecrest continue to outrun the ball?
