The Sebring Blue Streaks will head out on the road to face off against the Mainland Buccaneers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sebring will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Sebring had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top against the Commodores by a score of 21-12.
Sebring's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Travis Kerney, who rushed for 46 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 72 yards and a touchdown. Walsone Beaubrian was another key contributor, rushing for 49 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Mainland was not the first on the board last Friday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 22-14 win over Rockledge. Given Mainland's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Rockledge is ranked 66th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Dennis Murray jr., who threw for 154 yards and two touchdowns.
Mainland's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. The heavy lifting was done by Lawal Mccray (lj) and Dennis King 3rd who racked up four sacks between them.
Their wins bumped Sebring to 9-2 and Eau Gallie to 10-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Sebring has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 193 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Mainland struggles in that department as they've been averaging 188.3 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
