For the first time this season, Broomfield will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will welcome the Longmont Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Broomfield's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Longmont has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.
Broomfield is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Erie, who was ranked eighth at the time (Broomfield was ranked 16th). The Eagles and the Tigers were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but the Eagles suffered a 26-25 loss. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Despite the defeat, Broomfield got top-tier performance from Kashus Clarvoe, who rushed for 269 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Clarvoe's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Longmont). They blew past Thomas Jefferson, posting a 41-13 victory. With the Trojans ahead 28-6 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Broomfield better keep an eye on Jacob Foot. He was instrumental in Longmont's win, rushing for 292 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.2 yards per carry. Those 292 rushing yards gave Foot a new career-high.
Longmont's run defense was locked in: Thomas Jefferson could only muster 3.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Jaden Ramirez for the heroic effort on defense: he. Longmont didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.7.
Longmont's defense also made the game a nightmare for Nick Radi, racking up eight sacks. Thomas Jefferson's QB won't forget Jaxson Russell anytime soon given he sacked him five times. Longmont received some extra help from Liam Wright, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Longmont's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Broomfield, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Broomfield has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 252.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Longmont struggles in that department as they've been averaging 184.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Broomfield against Longmont when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 59-0 victory. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
