Basketball Recap: Cypress Creek Drops Season-High Score on River Ridge

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cypress Creek). They walked away with an 83-73 win over the River Ridge Royal Knights on Wednesday. While the Coyotes didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cypress Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caleb Edmonds, who went 10 for 15 on his way to 31 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Those 31 points gave Edmonds a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Manuel Castro, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 16 points along with eight assists and six boards.

Cypress Creek was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as River Ridge only racked up 14 assists.

Several Royal Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was TJ Beal, who went 9 of 17 on his way to 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Yeager, who went 7 of 17 on his way to 17 points and three steals.

The victory (which was Cypress Creek's third in a row) raised their record to 6-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.0 points per game. As for River Ridge, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-6.

Cypress Creek didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 65-39 defeat against Norwayne on the 26th. As for River Ridge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 70-33 win against Tarpon Springs on the 20th.
