The Cheyenne Desert Shields gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Chaparral 65-3 at home. With Cheyenne ahead 44-1 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Among those leading the charge was Elissa Sambo, who scored 14 points along with 5 steals. Another player making a difference was Nita Franklin, who scored 13 points along with 3 steals.
Cheyenne's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Chaparral, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cheyenne will challenge Desert Pines at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Desert Pines and Cheyenne are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Chaparral, they will head out on the road to face off against Mojave at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
