Basketball Recap: Brighton Has No Trouble Against Layton Christian Academy

Brighton's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Everything went their way against the Layton Christian Academy Eagles as the Brighton Bengals made off with a 64-41 victory. With that win, the Bengals brought their scoring average up to 51.3 points per game.

Olivia Stephens was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in rebounds. Sophie Nielsen was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Brighton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Layton Christian Academy only pulled down three offensive rebounds.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Penelope Arroyo, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Ledio, who posted nine points and five rebounds.

Brighton now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Layton Christian Academy, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-6.

Brighton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-26 victory against Cyprus on the 19th. As for Layton Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 59-27 defeat against Overland on the 18th.
