The Hemphill Hornets will take on the Woden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Hemphill had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 26-run drubbing they dealt Colmesneil on Tuesday. The Hornets' pitchers stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 26-0 shutout. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Rylie Corley, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, seven RBI, and three runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Baleigh Alonzo, who went 2-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI.
Meanwhile, Woden got the win against Broaddus on Saturday by a conclusive 16-1.
Autumn Bridges and Chandler Lindsey made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Bridges struck out six batters over two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Meanwhile, Lindsey pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. At the plate, Bridges went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Lindsey went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those triples marked the first that Lindsey has hit this season.
In other batting news, Addison Taylor and Kooper Welch did most of the damage at the plate: Taylor went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Welch went 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Jolette Montoya was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Woden was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Hemphill's record now sits at 21-8-1. As for Woden, their record is now 18-5.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hemphill hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .405. However, it's not like Woden struggles in that department as they've averaged .361. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hemphill beat Woden 9-4 in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
